Following some useful feedaback, want to change to try changing home page so that image and straplines of users are much less prominent, instead:
Name
thumbnails of several (5?) projects - selected at random
strapline, (maybe bio extract) and image, but smaller.
Objections please shout.

Hmmm. Not sure, now it's pushed. Still better conceptually, but..

Ok. I've changed it (again!). Will push first, ask questions later.

I like it! Without having looked at it locally is the only name the clickable target or can you click on the whole row?
In anyway I agree that it is better. I will try to maybe tweak the design but I am all for pushing this out as it for now!

ok here's my latest tweak...
I will be very happy when you tell me to stop and put it all back the way it was ! ;-)
However if you don't put the brakes on, I will deploy this, cause I think (think!) it is better than what we have now (in terms of what it /says/ but not what it looks like)

Maybe better, maybe worse:
anyway, enough design for me late at night! Let me know your thoughts. It's all in git if you want to play some time ;-)

agreed. I'm not talking about changing the filtering. My concern was that the home page looks more like it's around people (and their images) than people's portfolios. So the answer (might be) to get the portfolio elements onto the homepage.
I don't think the home page needs the project images to link to project pages... instead the project images are illustrative of the portfolio of the user.
This doesn't look quite right, but sort of what I'm trying to get at:

I certainly do not mind you playing with this as the page can certainly be improved. However If we had more people and apply harder filtering so that the linked profiles are even more interesting it would serve us better I think. Another case for open sign ups imho :)
Any link from the hp (either to a user or a project) should be rewarding so we do not disappoint with a single image, no words page...
